Dcn. Gauthier Vincent

I have greatly benefited from being in a spiritual direction myself for most of my adult life, and I now feel privileged to help others as a spiritual director.  Over the years, I have accompanied different people on their spiritual journey, from current and retired business executives to church ministers and recovering addicts, men and women, and Catholic and Evangelical Christians. I am a husband of 30 years and a father of 7 seven children.  An ordained minister (Deacon) in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bridgeport, CT, I also serve as deputy chaplain in the Order of Malta.   My professional career has been mostly in Banking and Management Consulting.

    Background

    I was born and raised in Paris, France.  I met Jesuits as student in Paris and started spiritual direction then.   I came to the US in 1990 to work for the World Bank in Washington DC.  This is where my wife Valerie and I met.  We have 5 grown up children and 2 teenagers, no grandchildren yet.  Over the years, we lived in Boston, San Francisco, Hong Kong, London, and Stamford, CT.  I have worked in Finance all of my professional career and have always striven for a sense a unity between work, family and prayer.  In 2008 I was ordained as a permanent deacon in the Roman Catholic Church.  In 2015, I started a formation in spiritual direction at Fairfield University and I have loved every minute of this ministry.  I am a cancer survivor, a martial artist (judo) of  40 years, and an avid reader (mostly on the topic of spirituality)

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Serving the Church as a deacon at Our Lady Star of the Sea church, Stamford for 10 years and now St Thomas More church in Darien CT.  I serve at mass, preach the gospel, celebrate baptisms, facilitate men’s groups, visit the sick, etc

    • A deputy chaplain in the Order of Malta since 2011

    • A volunteer spiritual director with Pivot Ministries (a Christian Rehab Center) in Bridgeport, CT

    • A spiritual director since 2015 (in training from 2015-2017) and directing 19th annotation retreats since 2020
